5 Tips to help you stay on track with your New Year’s Resolutions

With the New Year now well underway, how have you been keeping to your New Year’s Resolutions?

Whether your goal is to lose weight, buy a home or simply make more ‘you’ time, staying on track with your resolutions can be tough, to say the least.

Let’s face it – life happens and unfortunately things tend go awry at the worst of times. Even so, your resolutions need not take a back seat.

Shout it out loud

Make your resolutions known – tell friends, family, a stranger on the street (well, perhaps not the last). Social media also makes a good medium to share with the world your resolutions as it is a great way to hold yourself accountable once your goals are made known on the Internet!

Surround yourself with like-minded individuals

People who share your same goals or have similar goals are more likely to help keep you on track versus those who could care less about succeeding for themselves, let alone seeing you succeed.

Write it down

Whatever you do (the good, the bad, the ugly) write it down! Journal your day-to-day activities, your thoughts and feelings – you get the picture. If or when you falter, you will have the answers as to why you did instead of being left perplexed.

Be realistic

Whatever your resolutions, they should be realistic no matter what. Do not be afraid to make adjustments to your resolutions if you find yourself faltering. Perhaps put a bit of time and research into what constitutes reasonable goals for you based on your lifestyle – or perhaps you may need to make adjustments to your lifestyle in order to achieve your goals. In either case, just be realistic!

Care but don’t compare

While comparing yourself and progress to others is common, it can indeed set you back in achieving your goals. While caring and paying mind to what others, such as friends, are doing to achieve their resolutions try not to lose sight of you.
