The African Fashion Week Toronto 2017 model search takes place this weekend (April 29th) at the Posh Supper Club, (Toronto), starting at 2pm!

This is the only platform available in Toronto (GTA) that caters specifically to black models in Canada. The concept of African Fashion Week Toronto came up as a way to fill a void in the fashion industry. As more and more black creatives are getting involved with fashion, it is very important to have a mainstream platform like AFWT to enable support, growth and the creation of small businesses.

Co-Founder, Isaac Ansah shares what makes AFWT special and why you should attend!

What makes this event special?

This event is very special because it tackles the issues Black models face in the industry. The women we tend to see on the cover of magazines and striding down catwalks are still overwhelmingly white so we created this event to help black models get an opportunity to launch and grow their modeling careers.

Why should people attend?

Beyond the point of coming out to support young talented black models launch their careers, the event presents a great platform for attendees to network with industry professionals and their peers.

Who will be there?

Representatives from African Fashion Week Toronto, Huffington Post Canada,, Toronto Fashion Academy, Afroglobal Television, Designers, Models and many other professionals.

What do you hope to benefit from this event?

We hope all attendees grow their network, models gain the experience and opportunities they destine for, Sponsors and partners gain new audiences and exposure to grow their platforms.
